Project #4: "Unit Three"

Our family owns a set of nine rental units, three of which are houses, and six of which are a row of single story apartment-like houses aptly named, "The Sixplex". Recently we completed Project #3, which was Unit Number Two, one of the houses. Details on that can be found in the Flipendix once it is up.

Our new project is focusing on Unit Number Three, which is also one of the houses. Here are the specifications:

Rooms:

2 Bedrooms
1 Bathroom
Kitchen
Living Room
Storage Room
Enclosed Deck (The Sunroom)

700 Square Feet
50 Years Old

Now unfortunately, at this moment I do not have a picture of Unit Three's exterior, but I do have one of Unit Two, which is exactly the same in just about every way except for the sunroom on the back. Here is basically what it looks like:

Here's a list of the major things that need to be done inside Number Three:

  • Walls of the storage room need to be knocked down to extend the living room.
  • Outer walls need to be opened to put insulation inside of them.
  • New flooring in almost all parts of the house needs to be put in.
  • New baseboards need to be installed most places in the house.
  • All rooms need to be cleaned and painted.
  • Windows and windowsills need painting and cleaning.
  • Sunroom needs lots of attention.
These are just the main ideas, they embody many more, smaller mini projects to do.

Now you have the basics of the house, next we'll take a look inside.
